By Alexander Norris
Alexander Norris is a Latin teacher at Pimlico Academy, London. Having completed his BA Literae Humaniores at St John's College, University of Oxford, for which he received a First Class Honours, he is well acquainted with the enrichment that the humanities offer. Here he reflects on a question which is so often asked: what is the point of the humanities?
Whilst they certainly have immense practical utility, he observes, not everything which is worthwhile has a direct application in the world; indeed, perhaps these are the things that are most worthy of pursuit.
